They are big so depending on the size of the dog you might want to feed over a couple of days. Anyone who tries to peel the membrane out of the shell will be pleasantly surprised. this one is thick and sturdy and comes out in one piece.

Goose eggs are nutrient rich. I first started feeding goose eggs in florida when a local natural market shall started selling them, once that stall vanished it was hard finding them again. Now in the UK l thought it would be easy to find but no. They have a small window of when they lay, and are very hard to find. The other day my tiny local store had them. I was so happy and my dog enjoyed having them again. These oversized eggs are not just a delicacy for humans; they also offer various health benefits for dogs. In this blog, I will explore these benefits and provide insights on how to safely incorporate goose eggs into your dog's diet.

Nutritional Powerhouse

Goose eggs are larger than chicken eggs, which means they contain more nutrients packed into each serving. You can also feed duck eggs and quail eggs. They are also rich in vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin A, Vitamin B12, riboflavin, selenium, and many essential amino acids.

These nutrients contribute significantly to overall canine health, supporting everything from a shiny coat to strong muscles and immune function. Dogs that may need a boost in their diet, particularly active breeds or those recovering from health issues, can benefit greatly from the inclusion of goose eggs.

High-Quality Protein Source

One of the most prominent aspects of goose eggs is their high-quality protein content. Protein is essential for dogs as it plays a critical role in muscle development, energy production, and overall growth. The amino acids found in goose eggs help support the repair and maintenance of tissues, which is especially beneficial for athletic dogs and working breeds..

The varied nutrient profile of goose eggs goes beyond just protein and fat. They contain antioxidants and various vitamins that support the immune system. Antioxidants help combat free radicals in the dog's body, which can lead to chronic diseases when in excess.

In addition, vitamins like A and D play crucial roles in keeping the immune system robust. By adding goose eggs to your dog’s diet, you may help enhance their overall immune function, making them more resilient against infections and other health issues.

Supporting Digestive Health

Goose eggs can also be a good addition to a dog's diet for promoting digestive health. They contain certain enzymes that can aid in digestion and support a healthy gut. A balanced diet with an adequate protein source and healthy fats can keep your dog's digestive system functioning optimally.

Methods of feeding goose eggs

When adding goose eggs to your dog's diet, there are various methods to incorporate them. They can be served raw, which many raw-feeding enthusiasts advocate as it retains all nutrients and enzymes. However, some dog owners may choose to cook them first.

Cooking options include boiling, scrambling, or incorporating them into homemade dog treats. Ensure that the eggs are fresh and that they are sourced from reputable suppliers. It's always best to consult with your veterinarian before making significant changes to your dog's diet.

Allergies

While goose eggs are generally safe for most dogs, it's essential to monitor for any adverse reactions, especially if your dog is trying them for the first time. Allergies to eggs can occur, although they are relatively uncommon. Start with small servings and observe your dog for any signs of allergies or dietary issues, such as itching, digestive upset, or unusual behavior.

If your dog has a history of food allergies or specific dietary restrictions, it's crucial to consult your veterinarian before introducing goose eggs or any new food items into their diet.

So if you are lucky enough to find some goose eggs give your dog a tasty healthy treat on a lick mat, bake in a treat or with their meal.
